Hansi Flick: 'We gave 100% for 90 minutes'
"We were at 100% for 90 minutes" said coach Hansi Flick after FC Barcelona had picked up yet another resounding victory, this time in the Champions League in Belgrade to move into the all-important top eight positions in the League Phase table.
"I value what we have done and everything that we are doing" he told his post-game press conference. "We're playing very well with the ball, but we're also creating pressure and defending very well. It wasn't easy because Red Star know how to play, and how to defend. We had a great game."
"What mattered was winning, and especially here because it's not easy to win away in Europe. So I'm very happy ... I hope we can keep this rhythm up for the whole season and stay confident. It won't be easy, but we are working hard and after the international break I hope things stay like that. The team is doing very well, they're fabulous, and we need to keep competing like that."
"Lewandowski is ambitious and that's key. He always wants more, game after game, and that's rare to see ... And Kounde sets a good example for the team with his attitude, and the way he plays is fantastic."
Finally, on Pau CubarsÃ, who had to leave the field with a bloodied face, the coach said "he needed stitches, but he's fine."
