Nico Laprovittola operation a success

Player undergoes surgery on Tuesday and is expected to need 10 months to recover

Basketball player Nico Laprovittola has undergone successful surgery this Tuesday on cruciate ligaments and the external meniscus in his right knee. Surgery was performed at Hospital de Barcelona by Dr Jordi Puigdellívol in liaison with the FC Barcelona Medical Services. The player is expected to be out of action for ten months.

Popular player

Laprovittola was injured on Sunday 20 October when he took a fall in the game against Baskonia at the Palau Blaugrana. Nine days later, he was in the operating theatre while the rest of the team was winning an important game in Istanbul. There have been hearty messages of support from all of team-mates, and such an important member of the team will be sorely missed this season.

‘Lapro’ was averaging 10 points and six assists a game in the EuroLeague and 7.7 points and 5,2 assists in domestic play. In Europe, he has converted at least one 3-pointer in his last 19 games.

Messages of support

But it's not just the basketball players who have been wishing the player a speedy recovery. In a special video, Pedri (football), Mapi León (women's football), Domen Makuc (handball), Sergio Lozano (futsal) and Matias Pascual (roller hockey), all whom know just what it is like to be out for a long period with an injury, all had encouraging words for their fellow athlete.
