Flick: 'We won't change the way we play'
FC Barcelona have been in stunning form of late. And on Wednesday at 9pm at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, they have the chance to show just how much they have come on as they face Bayern Munich. A team that has dealt them a number of big disappointments in recent years. The mastermind behind the biggest of all, Hansi Flick, has since switched allegiances to Barça, and he spoke to the press ahead of the game against his former club this Tuesday.
"We have to leave the past behind" he said. "We can't change that. But we can influence what happens on Wednesday. We have to give our very best and beat Bayern Munich."
"Bayern is a very important club for me, but now I am coach of Barça and I am very happy to be here. I'm living a wonderful new chapter in my life, and I sense that the fans are sharing that passion with me. That's very nice, but it also makes you feel obliged to give everything. That's how we want to go into this game and all the ones to come after. As a team, we have to work hard to return the love we receive. And most of all, look to the future."
"Bayern is a first class team, with excellent players, very dominant and with a lot of ball possession. But my players are very ready and are really looking forward to this game. It's a difficult game for us, but we will try to do everything possible. We won't change our way of playing. We'll try to play deep, press with and without the ball and try not to make too many mistakes. Evidently we aren't going to win every game, but what we will do is always give the best of ourselves to achieve success."
