Lamine Yamal shows off La Liga Player of the Month award for September

The Barça number 19 is given a well deserved ovation by the fans ahead of Barça v Sevilla, which also sees a minute's silence in memory of Johan Neeskens

The return of La Liga after the recent international break saw Barça take on Sevilla in the Estadi Lluís Companys. In the minutes leading up to the contest the crowd witnessed two special moments - Lamine Yamal showing off his award for being voted Player of the Month for September in La Liga, and a minute's silence in memory of Johan Neeskens who sadly passed away at the beginning of October.

Teenager winger Lamine Yamal received a warm ovation from the crowd at the Estadi Olímpic as he was presented with his award for player of the months for September. It is the second time he has been recognised by La Liga this season after taking the prize for best U23 player in the league for August.

Minute's silence for Johan Neeskens

In contrast to the joyous moment of Lamine's achievement there was a poignant minute's silence in memory of former Barça player Johan Neeskens who passed away unexpectedly earlier in October. A contemporary of fellow Dutchman Johan Cruyff at Barça in the 1970s, Neeskens also acted as assistant coach at FC Barcelona to Frank Rijkaard. The tribute came in the first home game for the Club since the untimely death of the blaugrana legend.
