Sergi Roberto

Sergi Roberto Carnicer (Reus, Tarragona, 1992) joined FC Barcelona in 2006 with the dream of playing for the blaugrana first team, which he fulfilled time and again, even going on to become first captain and follow in the footsteps of legends like Puyol, Xavi, Iniesta and Messi.

A true representation of what FC Barcelona means, Sergi Roberto joined in 2006 aged 14 years old, moving to La Masia from the NĂ stic de Tarragona youth system. After burning through every youth level and shining with the development side coached by Luis Enrique that was competing in the Second Division, he made his first team debut on 10 November 2010, playing the final 25 minutes of a Copa del Rey game against Ceuta.

The multi-faceted player will never forget that 2010/11 season. It was when he first donned the first team jersey in LaLiga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League, with his first appearance in the semi-finals of the European competition against Real Madrid that the blaugranes went on to win. Ultimately, it was the 2013/14 season when he began to be used as a rotation option for the team, while his ability to play both midfield and full-back saw him claim his place in the blaugrana starting eleven during the 2015/16 season.

An attacking midfielder by trade, his ability to adapt to different positions meant every coach considered him an important part of the squad. He was an exemplary player who was always in position and ready to help the team whatever was needed.

When it comes to the goals Sergi Roberto scored while wearing the FC Barcelona jersey, one in particular has already gone down in history. It was 8 March 2017 and his last gasp goal at the Spotify Camp Nou completed the comeback against Paris Saint Germain (6-1) in the Champions League round of 16 after a 4-0 loss in the away leg. A memorable moment seared into the collective blaugrana memory.

After his time at the Club came to a close in 2024, he went on to play for Como in Italy.
