Barça 9-0 Hammarby: First big win in Europe

The blaugranes produce a festival of goals in their first home game of the campaign in the 2024/25 Champions League

Barça Women picked their first points of the season in the Champions League with a comprehensive 9-0 victory over Swedish club Hammarby.

The game was the first of the season in Europe at the Estadi Johan Cruyff and the second in group D for Pere Romeu’s side after their opening match defeat at Manchester City. Carolina Graham Hansen and Claudia Pina scored twice each in a win that saw seven different players on the scoresheet for the blaugranes.

Not long after the famous hymn had sounded at Barça Women’s home stadium, blaugrana keeper Cata Coll was called into action to make a save from Hammerby’s Wangerheim.

Nevetheless, the home side quickly imposed themselves and Alexia fed Graham Hansen for the Norwegian to round the keeper and make it 1-0 after just 10 minutes.

On 24 miniutes Pina added a second after good work in the build up from Pajor, Aitana and Graham Hansen. A pinpoint cross from Patri Guijarro allowed Alexia to add a third just before half time.

Two assists from Aitana

The second half saw Barça dominance continue. Mapi León added another header from an Aitana cross before the Ballon d’Or winner created another for Pina to make it 5-0 just before the hour mark.

The Swedish league champions found it difficult to even get out of their own half under the relentless pressure from the blaugranes. Striker Pajor finally got on the scoresheet on 72 minutes with Graham Hansen getting her second just minutes later to make it 7-0. A goal from Brugts and a late penalty from Rölfo sealed an emphatic win for Pere Romeu’s team.

Barça Women are next in action at home to Levante in the league on Sunday and next face European opponents on 12 November at home to Austrian side St. Pölten.
