FC Barcelona present the 125th Anniversary poster, a Miquel Barceló creation

Club introduces initial programme that includes the gala on 29 November at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and activities for members

Today saw artist Miquel Barceló joined by FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta and 125th Anniversary Commissioner David Carabén to reveal the Club’s 125th Anniversary poster, marking the start of this year’s activities to celebrate the Club’s landmark moment. Inspired by the 125th anniversary manifesto, “We want the ball”, Barceló presented the 125th anniversary poster, following in the footsteps of other great international artists. Previous commemorative posters for the club’s anniversaries saw creations by Josep Sagrelles (25th anniversary), Sebastián Rey Padilla (50th), Joan Miró (75th) and Antoni Tàpies, who created the Club’s Centenary poster in 1999.

According to the artist, the poster features a player wearing the Club’s colours that represents the Club’s own game model, among other aspects. Many other human figures feature within the player – an entire team of starters and substitutes. The players is presented in movement and adorned with different plant, mineral and animal characters, with marine figures in particular, which are also elements that can connect with football.

The 125th anniversary poster was presented during the first episode of “La Llotja del 125”, Barça One’s new video podcast. Hosted live by Andreu Juanola and Sara Loscos, “La Llotja del 125” is set to become the monthly place to go for a lookback at some of the most important events in the institution’s history, as well as the aspects that make FC Barcelona “More than a Club”. In addition to revealing Miquel Barceló’s poster, this first Llotja episode previewed some of the events for the 125th anniversary, including institutional events for FC Barcelona members.

The search for “El nou Clam” begins on 24 October

FC Barcelona and TV3 begin the final phase of the search for “El nou Clam” - the anthem to celebrate the Club’s 125th anniversary - on 24 October. The six episode series will portray the entire process and select the pieces, emulating the process for the 75th anniversary with Armand Carabén, Club manager (1970-1973) and father of the 125th Anniversary Commissioner David Carabén, when the Club’s current anthem, the Cant del Barça was composed. Comprised of personalities involved in Catalan culture, the jury will choose three lyrics to be set to music by three composers and arranged by three producers so that FC Barcelona members can cast their virtual vote for the Club’s 125th Anniversary anthem.

Connecting FC Barcelona fans worldwide
