Flick 'very satisfied' with his team's performance

German coach responds positively to a fabulous result in this season's first home Champions League encounter

Hansi Flick said before the game that he would settle for nothing less than three points against Young Boys on Tuesday night, and that is exactly what he got. "Nobody knows exactly how this new Champions League will work and what we'll need, but it's always good to get a good goal difference just in case" he said after the final whistle. "We needed these three points and deserved the 5-0 win."

"I'm very satisfied with the way we played" he continued."At first we were not so confident but after the first goal it was much easier ... We need to keep working game by game. There is still a lot to do and we always try to offer our best performance. If the team stays as united as it has been until now, if we work hard, we can have a great season."

Naming names

On Raphinha, the coach said, "he played very well and I am happy with him. But we can't talk about just one player because we are a team. Raphinha can play well but only if we all play well. That's the key."

Flick also commented on Frenkie de Jong and his comeback from injury, saying "this was a very important step for him. First, to play a bit. But now he needs a little time, although he did a lot in his little time on the field. It was good for him to get a first feel."

"The season is very long and a lot of things can happen. We saw that with Marc Bernal and Marc ter Stegen. I am looking forward to getting players back. For now, it is very important to keep winning points. We have all the players, or practically all the players, it will be much easier to share the workload."
