Al-Ahly 23-31 Barça: Powering into the semis

Domination from start to finish and an incontestable victory

FC Barcelona are through to the semi-finals of the World Club Cup in Egypt after seeing off Al-Ahly in comfortable fashion, a game that they controlled from the earliest minutes when they took a 4-1 lead.

With Aleix Gómez scoring goals and Emil Nielsen stopping them, the gap got wider and wider, and although Homayed particularly impressed for the Egyptians, by the break the 10-17 scoreline suggested there was only ever going to be one outcome here.

FC Barcelona continued to govern the play after the restart, and even when the gap between the sides narrowed back down to seven, it was no real cause for alarm.

Barça advance unbeaten into the semi-finals on Tuesday at the New Capital Sports Hall in Cairo.
