Equal third best start to La Liga ever

Barça's league campaign has got off to such an amazing start! Six games and six wins, and four points clear at the top of the Liga table... In fact, it's one of the best starts for the club EVER. Only on two previous occasions has the team gone more than six games without dropping a single point.

Two off the record

This is only the seventh time that Barça have won their first six games. On all but two of those occasions, six was as far as it went. Only Tata Martino, who set the record of eight wins in 2013/14, and Ernesto Valverde, who won seven in 2017/18, went better than what Hansi Flick has achieved so far. On Wednesday, Barça are at home to Getafe, and they could match what was achieved under the man now in charge of Athletic Club.

The list of coaches who led the team to six wins begins with Englishman James Bellamy way back in 1929/30, just the second ever edition of the competition. Nobody emulated that until 1990/91, and it was the great Johan Cruyff. 

In 1997/98, Louis van Gaal matched the feat, and Pep Guardiola also did it in his second season in charge, 2009/10, as did his successor, the late Tito Vilanova, in 2012/13.
