Bàsquet Girona 79 - 83 Barça: Comeback and into the final
A very tough match, but Barça will be in the Lliga Catalana ACB final in Tarragona. Peñarroya's side had to come back from 17 points down against Girona, led by an excellent Jabari Parker.
Girona with nothing to lose
After beating Andorra the day before, Barça knew they had to do their job to ensure a place in the Lliga Catalana final. However, Girona didn't make it easy despite not having much chance to make it themselves. It was also another chance to defeat the blaugranes like in China.
-17 before the comeback
Girona came out and quickly assumed control, going on to score 16-0 at one point, and at 30-13, a comeback was clearly needed. Parker stepped up to reduce the gap to a more manageable eight points (43-35). A rollercoaster first half, but with the positive of Vesely making his first start under Peñarroya.
Parker leads the way
Still a lot to do for Barça after the break, but Jabari Parker carried on from where he left off, and was having one of those unstoppable games. It was his two free shots that saw Barça go ahead for the first time (49-50), Kevin Punter and Chimezie Metu providing great support.
Manresa in the final
However, Girona scored 9-0 to go one ahead (62-61) after the third, with signs this was going to be a battle to the end. it proved a long, tough contest, stretching to two hours, but Barça had the wherewithal to see out the game, allied with individual talent, Kevin Punter coming up trumps with a 3+1 to confirm Barça will face Manresa in the final on Sunday at 7.30pm CEST.
