Barça Academy football, basketball and futsal presentation

Football starts today, Wednesday, whilst basketball and futsal will start next week

As every year before the sporting season begins, the Barça Academy took the opportunity to present the objectives for the football, basketball and futsal teams to the families who have once again entrusted Barça with the sporting education for their children. 

Benny Megreli, director of the Barça Academy, welcomed those attending the three fold presentation which took place at the Palau Blaugrana, highlighting the strength of the project. The first to present their project was the basketball representatives in their ninth season with Barça Academy multisport director Paco Díaz and Barça Academy basketball's Oriol Grau. The basketball coordinator Cristina Soriano explained the objectives for the year for the students and to conclude Nacho Solozabal, Barça Academy basketball assessor, thanked the families for the help given to the children who are learning the Barça method of playing basketball. 

One of the changes for this season sees a change of venue for the Barça Academy basketball. For the next few weeks training sessions will take place at the Col·legi Alemany de Barcelona (DSB). Up until now they were taking place next to the blaugrana facilities but now the change will being an improvement for the sessions. 

Turn for futsal 

Next, it was the turn for all the parents of children taking part in the Barça Academy futsal this season. After the introductions it was Barça Academy futsal coordinator Manel Quílez who explained the school's methodology for 2024/25. 

In its sixth year, the futsal academy will continue to use the facilities at INEFC Catalunya on Montjuïc. Also present was Ari Santos, futsal coordinator for the youth teams at FC Barcelona and one of the great names from the team's history. 

Barça Academy football 

The football academy was the final sport to be presented for the season which starts on Wednesday 4 September. Megreli spoke of how the Barça Academy football in Barcelona is the backbone of all the projects Barça have around the world and the focus point for all the academies. Sergi Barjuan, sporting director of the Barça Academy, encouraged the players to enjoy the experience and look to improve every day. Albert Mola, project manager at the Barça Academy Barcelona, explained the changed in operations and logistics for this coming season. 

Pau Casassa, technical director of the Barça Academy, was in charge of explaining that the Barça methodology applied at the Academy, and Albert Pujol, Barça Academy Barcelona representative, explained the objectives and way of working of all the coaches taking part this year. 

360Player, information channel for the families 

The parents were also introduced to the 360Player application which will be used to communicate with the families of students. The app will speed up process and aid the digitalisation process to offer an improved experience to players and their families at the Barça Academy.
