Barça Atlètic 1–1 Real Unión: Draw to start

The reserves start their competitive season with a point at home to the Basques

Barça Atlètic have started their league season with a 1-1 draw at home to Real Unión after what could have been three points were scuppered by a second half injury time goal from Sanbartolomé.

Goalless first half

Real Unión are a fine side and came to the Estadi Johan Cruyff with every intention of making life very difficult for the home team. Had it not been for some fine goalkeeping by Diego Kochen things could have started very nastily indeed, and it wasn't until past the half hour mark that Barça started to cause much threat of their own, with Unai Hernández getting a couple of tidy chances that sadly went begging.

Unai at last

Albert Sánchez's side went back off the boil after the restart, but there wasn't much danger at their own end either, with Kochen dealing with everything that came his way with impressive efficiency. It needed something special to tip the balance, and that something came from Unai Hernández who unleashed a fine finish to complete a fabulous build-up between Pau Prim and Guille.

That goal seemed to have done the trick for Barça Atlètic, but two minutes after the end of regulation time, there was a moment of chaos following a corner in which Sanbartolomé outsmarted everyone to bang in the Basque equaliser. It was a frustrating end to the game, and meant that a perfect start to the league campaign was instead a disappointing draw.
