The August agenda

La Liga starts on August 17, but there's the Joan Gamper Trophy to come before that

A new month has started, and it's a big one because La Liga will be kicking off this August, with the first game on the 17th at Mestalla, home of Valencia (9.30pm CEST), which will be the first official fixture with Hansi Flick as manager.

It won't be until Saturday 24 that La Liga returns to the Estadi OlĂmpic LluĂs Companys for a game with Athletic Club. That one is a 7pm CEST start.

But that won't be the first game of the new season at the home stadium. That's because August 12 is the date of the traditional curtain-raiser to the new year, the Joan Gamper, which is welcoming Monaco for the 2024 edition, and starts at 8pm CEST.

And before that, there are two more games on the US Summer Tour against Real Madrid and AC Milan.

The month closes with two further league fixtures, away to Rayo on August 27 at 9.30pm CEST and against Valladolid at MontjuĂŻc on Saturday 31 at 5pm CEST.
