Lewandowski looking to 'step things up'

Speaking from Orlando, the Polish striker describes Hansi Flick's attacking style and refuses to discuss new signings

Robert Lewandowski is an innate winner. His history says so. That made last season all the more frustrating for him, with his team failing to land any major silverware. Speaking from Orlando, he made his intentions clear. It won't happen again.

“Last season wasn't perfect for us" he admitted. "It wasn't perfect for me either. But we are Barça and we need to step things up. Not just me. The whole team.”

“We have a new coach and I am sure that together we can work very hard. Whenever a new coach comes along you have to get used to new ideas and work out where we're heading."

Pressed to say more about Hansi Flick, he continued that “he is a man who always wants us to look forward and play attacking football. I am sure that I'll be able to score more goals this season. But we also need to work on transitions between attack and defence to avoid conceding so many goals."

There is a lot of talk in the press about potential new signings, but that's not something Lewandowski wanted to talk about, merely saying that "I am sure that by the end of the summer we'll have a very good squad."
