The jersey for the 24/25 season pays tribute to the first ever Barça kit from the year 1899

The design is inspired by the Club’s legacy, history and beginnings, coinciding with its 125th anniversary

To celebrate the Club’s 125 years of history, the FC Barcelona jersey’s design for the 2024/25 season is inspired by the Club’s legacy, history and beginnings. Using the colours blue and maroon, present as a main element in the badge, a distinct, unique and symbolic design has been created that evokes the team’s identity throughout its history.

To honour the Club’s origins, the proposal has looked towards the first team kit from the year 1899; a shirt in two colours with a design that brings an elegant and classic contrast to proceedings.

The jersey will bear the Spotify logo on the front, together with that of Nike, as well as the Ambilight TV brand on the sleeve of the men’s first team kit, with the brand Bimbo on the sleeve of the women’s kit. Furthermore, the UNHCR/ACNUR logo will be maintained underneath the shirt number.

During the first phase of the launch in stores, the new Barça jerseys (Stadium and Match) will carry the same Spotify logo featured on the kits last season. The FC Barcelona jerseys with the refreshed version, which will be worn by Barça players on pitch during the 24/25 season, will be available for fans to purchase from autumn this year.

Presentation video with Club sportspeople and legendary players

Continuing with the theme of the 125th anniversary, the Club is promoting the launch of this first jersey with an audiovisual campaign that strengthens two fundamental ideas that define Barça: the style of play and being Catalan.

To give the story coherence, the video is inspired by the concept of ‘We want the ball’ and sees several legendary players take part (Ronaldinho, Iniesta, Puyol, Gasol and Stoichkov) as well current players (Cubarsí, Lewandowski, Araujo, Pedri, Fermín, Gavi, Balde, Lamine and Raphinha; Vicky, Alexia, Aitana, Mapi, Engen and Rolfo).

Ronaldinho opens events and he is the first to pass a ball that symbolises Barça’s own style and footballing DNA. The ball comes to the current players as they look back on emblematic footballing moments from the Club’s recent history with scenes that also invoke what it is to be Catalan. Lewandowski, Araujo and Cubarsí share some tomato bread; Pedri and Fermín paint some pictures that connect with the presence of the cartoonist Pilarín Bayés talking about Barça’s style of play, whilst Stoichkov and Pau Gasol talk about their legacy and share their experiences with Gavi and Balde via a videocall. For their part, the women players come together by making a human tower along with the Colla Castellers from Poble Sec. During the piece a lot of details of the jersey for 2024/25 can be made out and it all comes together with a cry of “Visca Barça!” from none other than Carles Puyol.

The Nike design team have updated the colour direction using a focus named ‘metaprismatic’. As such, the new clothing takes the traditional colours and adds to the team via light and movement to bring forward the colour palette in a unique fashion, whilst at the same time maintaining the Club’s aesthetic identity. The men’s, women’s and children’s kits can be purchase from 18 July via the BARÇA STORES, the Club’s official e-commerce platform as well as at Nike Stores and Nike.com.
