Mariona Caldentey to leave FC Barcelona
After 10 years representing Barça, Mariona Caldentey will not be at the Club the coming season. The 28-year-old Mallorcan player has decided to take on a new professional challenge once her contract ends on June 30. Barça's number 9 is saying goodbye after 302 competitive games for Barça, having scored 114 goals.
Mariona leaves as the fifth highest all-time goalscorer for the Club behind Oshoala (117), Sonia Bermúdez (123), Jenni Hermoso (181) and Alexia Putellas (190).
Her 114 goals were scored in the Liga F (73), the Champions League (16), the Copa de la Reina (13), the Spanish Super Cup (3), and the Catalan Cup (9). It is worth noting that she scored 19 goals during the 2023/24 season, her highest in a single season, surpassing the 17 she scored during the 2020/21 season.
Superb spell
Mariona made her debut for the Barça first team during the 2014/15 season, aged 18 years old, and she has gone in history for Barça Women during the ten year period since. The Balearic Islander has won 25 trophies: 3 Champions League, 6 Liga F, 6 Copa de la Reina, 4 Spanish Super Cup, and 6 Catalan Cups.
She is fourth in the all-time list for trophies won, only behind Alexia Putellas (30), Melanie Serrano (29) and Marta Torrejón (28).
28-year-old Caldentey is leaving having recently won the Champions League after putting in an outstanding performance against Olympique Lyonnais Féminin in the final.
