Xavi: 'I am grateful to the Club for the opportunity'
This Sunday will see Xavi Hernández in charge of the FC Barcelona men's first team for the final time. The Club informed that he will not continue as coach for the 2024/25 season on Friday, meaning the LaLiga game against Sevilla at the Sánchez Pizjuán stadium will bring the curtain down on his two and a half years in the role.
"It's been tough, but I am proud and satisfied because we have done a good job. We have given everything. We now want to end in the best possible way and I am looking forward to enjoying my final game as Barça coach", explained Xavi during the press conference when asked about how he feels in the run-up to the game. He went on to add, "Looking back, it's been a wonderful experience and you really learn a lot. I thank the Club for giving me the opportunity".
Xavi was also asked about how he learned the news and he confirmed that "the President explained the reasons, which I accept". "I have an understanding nature and am a Club man. I will always be there for Barça whenever I am needed. I'll just be a fan from now on, and my family and I will go to Montjuïc and Spotify Camp Nou. I will always wish the Club the best", he commented.
Lastly, the coach wanted to leave it in no doubt that "despite going through a rollercoaster of emotions, I like being part of Barça and working for Barça". "The door will remain open for a return should I be needed because this will always be my club", he concluded.
