New area for wheelchair users in the Palau Blaugrana

Each seat has another seat alongside for companions

The Palau Blaugrana has a new area for wheelchair users. The space is located in the Gol Nord stand of the FC Barcelona venue and was inaugurated during the Barça v Lenovo Tenerife basketball game on May 19. Each of the seven new seats has another seat alongside for a companion, ensuring that everyone can have company when enjoying the games.

These seats are set to go on sale soon for every professional team game played at the blaugrana venue. Let's not forget that these seven seats complement the space already made available in one corner of the Gol Nord stand for persons with reduced mobility.

Pre-match gathering

The inauguration event for the new space took place before the first game of the ACB quarter-finals, and was attended by the Director responsible for Amateur Sports, Miquel Camps, FC Barcelona ambassador Audie Norris, and the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Department manager Maite Laporta.

The UNES Barça team (wheelchair basketball) were also represented by their president Montserrat García, sporting commission member Manel Jiménez and players Alejandro Baca and Rafael Benítez. They were also joined by the wheelchair tennis player Niels Vink and rally driver Isidre Esteve.

A club committed to diversity, equality and inclusion

The inauguration of the new areas for wheelchair users in the Palau Blaugrana is another initiative to add to the work being done by FC Barcelona's Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Department within the framework of European Diversity Month. For example, new mannequins have been used in Barça Stores this month, and the “Quieter Hours” initiative was implemented for the Barça Immersive Tour and in the Spotify Camp Nou Barça Store.
