Agreement to extend Alexia Putellas' contract to 2026

Club and women's team captain to continue their relationship for two more seasons

FC Barcelona and Alexia Putellas have reached an agreement for the player to stay at the club for two more seasons through to 30 June 2026, with the option of a third year. This Tuesday the 2021 and 2022 Ballon d'Or winner out pen to paper in the company of club president Joan Laporta.

Record breaker

Putellas is not only one of the greatest players ever to play for Barça but is also simply one of the greatest female players of all time. Her 189 goals are more than any other player has contributed to the Barça cause, and she now has at least two more years to keep adding to her amazing tally.

The Copa de la Reina at the weekend means she has now won an astonishing 29 major trophies at the club, surpassing the 28 won by Melanie Serrano. And Alexia could take her count to 30 should she win the Champions League for the third time this coming Saturday.

Third most appearances

Alexia has totalled 424 games for Barça over the years. Only Marta Torrejón (431) and the aforesaid Melanie Serrano (517) can boast more. Again, now that she is to remain blaugrana for at least two more years, who knows how much higher this incredible player will be able to go?
