Fermín's first brace takes his season total to ten
Fermín López has truly blossomed this season. In less than a year he has progressed from being one of many hopefuls at La Masia to being one of the most talked about young talents in Europe. On Thursday in Almería he posted one of his best performances so far, netting twice to earn three very important points for his side.
It was on the summer tour last year that Fermín's name first got noticed following his tremendous goal against Real Madrid. Suddenly everyone was asking about the youngster, and it wasn't long before Xavi Hernández was using him more and more in his plans, to the extent that the Andalusian midfielder has now amassed 39 appearances and contributed ten goals to the blaugrana cause.
At the Power Horse Stadium, he scored twice in the same game for the first time in his senior career at Barça (although he did get a brace the season before while playing on loan at Linares). The first of his goals against Almería was with his head. In fact, that's the fourth time this league season that he has scored that way. And he followed that with a lovely conversion of a Sergi Roberto assist to make double-sure of the three points.
Third top scorer
He is now the third highest marksman in the squad in 2023/24, tied with João Félix. Only Ferran Torres (11) and Robert Lewandowski (24) have scored more. As well as his seven ion the league, he also scored twice in the Champions League and once in the Copa del Rey. Having scored in three of the last five games, he is clearly getting better and better and it's thrilling to think what he might have in store for us when next season gets going.
