RC Deportivo 1-0 Barça Atlètic: Not the team's night

The blaugranes lose a tight game in Riazor as Lucas Pérez's goal seals promotion for the Galicians after four seasons in the third tier of Spanish Football

Rafa Márquez's Barça Atlètic side went down to a 1-0 defeat in Riazor against Deportivo La Coruña with Lucas Pérez's goal from a free kick ended the blaugranes' hope of automatic promotion from the Primera Federación to the Second Division. Next week Barça will face Gimnástic de Tarragona at home in the Catalan derby with two games still to play in the regular season.

Barça dominate but without goals

Deportivo started brightly but rarely threatened Ander Astralaga's goal in the opening minutes. As the first half went on, Casadó for the blaugranes started to dominate midfield Chances came for Pau Víctor and Marc Guiu as Barça also had a shout for a penalty turned down.

Goalkeeper Parra made a good stop for the home side from Víctor before the top two in Group 1 of the Primera RFEF left the field at half time goalless.

Goal from Lucas Pérez

After the break the momentum was with the home side. Yerermay and Lucas Pérez combined with the latter almost giving Deportivo the lead. After a foul on the edge of the box, Lucas Pérez finally did give Deportivo the lead on 56 minutes with a well placed free kick.

Barça pressed for an equaliser in what remained of the half but it was to be for Rafa Márquez's team with Depor sealing promotion and Barça Atlètic now resigned to a place in the play offs.
