Five games to end the season

FC Barcelona has five Liga games coming up in May, two at home and three away

The season is drawing to a close and with their title hopes as good as over, for FC Barcelona the goal in the five remaining games in May is to ensure they finish second and hence book their ticket to Saudi Arabia for the Spanish Super Cup next season.

Catalan derby

And a large part of those hopes rest on Saturday's derby against Girona. Defeat at Montilivi would move this season's surprise package into second place, so Barça need to make sure they come away with at least a point to keep their destiny in their own hands. And if they can do something about the two-goal deficit in the head-to-head after losing 4-2 at home, then so much the better.

Three in a week

Barça have a nine-day break afterwards, but then the games will start flowing thick and fast. On Monday 13 May they are at home to Real Sociedad, the Thursday after they visit the already relegated Almería and the last home fixture, the date yet to be confirmed, comes a few days later against Rayo Vallecano.

Sevilla to finish

The league season comes to an end at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in the final weekend of May. Logically, by this stage the league trophy will have already been collected by Real Madrid, unless something quite extraordinary happens in the next few weeks, but if it hasn't been decided already, then this is the game in which the runners-up slot will be decided once and for all.
