Jaén 3-2 Barça: An ill-fated evening
The Barça futsal side are going through a difficult season as injuries have taken their toll throughout. Sergio Lozano and Sergio González may now be added to the list, the latter having to leave the court on a stretcher due to a potentially serious knee injury in this matchday 22 3-2 loss away to Jaén at the Olivo Arena.
The setbacks proved too much as the home side came back from 0-2 down to win, meaning Barça's lead has been cut to two over ElPozo Murcia, with Jaén and Palma now three and four points behind respectively, the latter being Saturday's opponents at the Palau Blaugrana (9pm CET).
Barça strike before the break
A positive start for the blaugranes, with both sides showing attacking intent from the off and each keeper preventing the deadlock being broken. Barça's clearest chance saw Catela hit the post and rebound to André Coelho who drew a last gasp intervention from Espíndola (min 11).
Jaén grew into the game and tested Dídac through Chino and Espíndola, while Pablo del Moral hit the post. However, Jesús Velasco's side reacted well, a superb pass by Dyego into the area was finished perfectly by Sergio González to open the scoring (0-1, min 18).
Bad luck for Barça
The second goal came after the restart, Antonio finishing past Espíndola (0-2, min 24), but things took a turn for the worse for the visitors from then on. Initially because Jaén got back into the game through Mati Rosa (1-2, min 31) before Chino made the most of a double penalty to level up the score (2-2, min 34).
A further blow not long afterwards came when Sergio González incurred a potentially significant knee injury that saw him stretchered off the court, and the bad luck continued as Espíndola saved a penalty from Catela a 3:33, before Chino fired in from distance to complete the comeback for the home side (3-2, min 39).
