Mallorca, fond memories for Fermín

Fermín López is getting plenty of playing time at  FC Barcelona and that is despite his youthful age. He is very much part of Xavi Hernández-s scheme in midfield, and with key injuries in that part of the field, he is very likely to start in this Friday's game at home to Mallorca.

Indeed, the 20-year-old was the player chosen to replace Frenkie de Jong when he was unable to continue in Bilbao on Sunday night.

It will not have escaped anyone's attention that the Balearic islanders are precisely the side against which the Barça starlet scored his very first senior goal.

Barça were trailing 2-1 when., in the 74th minute, Raphinha slipped the ball into the danger zone. Lewandowski could have struck it, but let the opportunity pass, having spotted that his young team-mate was even better positioned. And he was right. Fermin converted the equaliser to salvage a point in Palma.

A month later he scored again and also gave as assist in perhaps his best game to date against Shakhtar Donetsk and he scored his third official goal in the cup against Barbastro, and was on target again in the 4-0 dismantling of Getafe.
