Barça 8 - 0 Sevilla: Smoothly into the semifinals

The blaugranes showcase their quality in this dominant display at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, booking their place in the Copa de la Reina semifinals

A wonderful display saw a true to form Barça Women run out 8-0 winners against Sevilla to book their place in the Copa de la Reina semifinals. The visitors were under pressure throughout, with goals by Salma (2), Aitana (2), Mariona (2), Graham Hansen, and Ari Arias confirming a comprehensive win by the final whistle.

Salma and Aitana show the way

Sevilla's defence was a touch unfortunate to be breached after just seven minutes, a Salma Paralluelo shot from the edge of the area deflecting off Gomes to make it 1-0.

A definite sign of things to come saw Aitana Bonmatí finish a classic blaugrana move in the striker's position, created by Salma and Mariona down the left (2-0, min. 16).

Mariona brace

Just two minutes later, Mariona finished a wonderful low cross from Vicky López, again from the left channel (3-0, min. 18). The former blaugrana and Sevilla keeper Esther Sullastres was doing well when called into action, but she couldn't do much about a Mariona penalty after a foul on Aitana (4-0, min. 33).

Six goals before the break

Sevilla's approach of playing out from the back saw a few interceptions higher up the pitch, exemplified by Mariona being set free to pass another ball across the box for Salma Paralluelo to tap in her second (5-0, min. 37).

Caroline Graham Hansen was looking as dangerous as ever, and the season's top scorer got her goal after her shot deflected in off a defender after more good work by Vicky López (6-0, min. 41).

Aitana and Ari Arias round off the win

Nico Laprovittola, from the Barça basketball team, plus Sergio Lozano and Álex Yepes from the Barça futsal team were among those enjoying the blaugranes' show, and Aitana Bonmatí added another chapter by pouncing on a rebound from a Salma header to make it 7-0 (min. 59).

Bruna, Dragoni and Ari Arias all came on to make a difference, and the latter showed why she is the second division's top scorer, steering in a low Batlle cross to make it 8-0 (min. 77), and Barça were smoothly through to the next round.

Next up, Sevilla again, this time in the Liga F away in Andalusia, with the Copa de La Reina semifinal opponents confirmed beforehand.
