Forte dei Marmi 1-3 Barça: Two from two in the Champions League
A great victory in the Champions League to end the year, as Barça won 1-3 away to Forte dei Marmi in Italy, a proverbial tough place to go. Edu Castro's team came into the final clash of 2023 with the clear objective of continuing their feats in La Liga, where they have 11 wins and one draw in 12 games Adding another win in Europe was the aim and they did just that.
This means the blaugranes will start the new year in positive fashion after winning away at a venue where they drew last season. This wasn't the case this time as the joint leaders of the Italian league were beaten in the first away fixture of this season's Champions League and that's now six points out of six, the best possible outcome.
The game in Italy saw Barça take charge from the off, Ignacio Alabart coming close straightaway. A few minutes later Marc Grau had a couple of good chances, with one hitting the post, but Pau Bargalló ended up opening the scoring after 8 minutes to give the blaugranes a 0-1 lead at halftime.
The second half saw Joao Rodrigues make it 0-2 from a penalty as chances were coming for both sides. Things became tense as the home side grabbed a goal with a minute to go, but Pau Bargalló scored again to seal the win, final score 1-3.
