Casademont Zaragoza 101- 99 Barça: Last gasp defeat

A basket from Bell-Haynes in the final second gives the home side the win in a high scoring encounter

The Barça basketball side were unable to round off the week with a win as Roger Grimau's team went down to a 101-99 loss in the ACB league. With a record of 9 wins and 4 defeats this season, the blaugranes are now a win behind Unicaja and three behind leaders Real Madrid.

A last gasp basket from Zaragoza's Bell-Haynes handed the home side a win when the contest seemed destined to go into overtime.

Zaragoza strike early

The tempo of the game was set early on when both sides exchanged rapid attacks. The points flowed and it was the home side who took a 48-44 advantage into the break. At one point in the second quarter Zaragoza were 13 ahead at 35-22 but 11 points from Jabari Parker in that quarter helped bring Barça back into the game.

Three pointers

In the third quarter Barça forged ahead before the home side pegged them back at 62-62 with 25 minutes gone. As the team swapped three pointers, the home side took a 81-75 lead despite the efforts of Laprovittola with two quick scores.

Bell-Haynes the home hero

A 10-3 run of points for the visitors saw Barça back in front but Zaragoza held their nerve to make it 99-99 with just seconds remaining. Then, Bell-Haynes scored the vital basket to hand Barça defeat with just 0.4 seconds remaining.
