'We need the support of the fans'

The Culers will be needed more than ever at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Sunday against Atlético Madrid

On Sunday FC Barcelona face Atlético Madrid at 9pm CET in La Liga in one of the game of the season so far. Clashes with los colchoneros are always special occasions and it is for that reason that the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys is getting ready for the encounter in which it is hoped the fans can get right behind Xavi's team to help them pick up three valuable points.

It is clear that the blaurganes are a stronger team when the fans are behind them. For that reason, president Joan Laporta has reached out to the fans: "We need the support of the fans, all culers come to the Estadi Lluís Companys. We have a very important date. The players are motivated but we need our fans." 

 

The president continued: "We have to be aware that we are at a moment in the season which could be a turning point. Into the last 16 of the Champions League, we are getting better and the team need support more than ever." 

Xavi: "We need support like against Porto"

On the same subject, coach Xavi Hernández, during his pre-game press conference called on the support of the fans. "It's a very important game for us, against a tough team and we need to fans 'full on', like against Porto. Let's hope lots of people come to Montjuïc and they support us to the end. The fans will be vital," said the Barça boss. 

 

Players Robert Lewandowski and Ilkay Gündoğan also addressed the fans directly. "It's always tricky to play against Atlético Madrid but we are Barça and we are playing at home. The support from the fans is really important for us and with them it is easier," revealed the Polish striker. 

For his part, the German midfielder added that "two big games are coming up." Gündoğan continued: "The fans are really important for us and we need them. Let's hope they can keep supporting us like they have done up to now. We will give everything for them to be happy."
