Barça 101- 92 ASVEL: Three point party in the Palau
The blaugranes picked up another excellent victory in the Euroleague on Friday at the Palau Blaugrana with a 101-92 win over French side Asvel Villeurbanne. In a frenetic, high-scoring encounter, Roger Grimau's team where lethal from the three point line with Laprovittola helping himself to 28 points.
High scoring and problems in defence
The home side started at an electric pace and were quickly 10-2 ahead in the first quarter. Jabari Parker scored eight points in the first period as both sides showed great precision in attack. Barça held a four point lead at 28-24 only for the French visitors to come back in the second quarter to reduce the gap to just a point on 14 minutes at 34-33.
Both teams struggled to contain their opponents' offense and at half time the blaugranes reached the half century to lead 50-47
In the second half the blaugranes started to open up a gap at 58-50. Grimau's team extended their advantage as Laprovittola piled on the points to take Barça 71-58 ahead. Nando de Colo led a mini fightback for the French side and they dragged themselves to within seven at 78-71.
Three point winners
Asvel continued to eat into Barça's lead in the final quarter and were back to within a solitary point at 84-83 with seven minutes remaining. However, the blaugranes notched up 17 three pointers in the game, eight from Laprovittola, to steal away from their opponents in the final minutes and take a 101-92 win.
