FC Barcelona 115-78 Bàsquet Girona: Exhibition at the Palau

Brizuela and Hernangómez excel in a comfortable Sunday victory

Girona is in fashion, with its football team top of the league and the basketball team also among the highest ranked teams in the country, but there was little doubt who the better side was today as Barça put 37 points between themselves and their fellow Catalan opposition.

Brizuela and Hernangómez were both outstanding, but it was also a big day for Satoransky as he moved up to night of all time in assists for the team, on the same day that Abrines became the third highest 3-point scorer with 408.

After getting off to a flying start, including seven first period points from Willy Hernangómez, Barça never really had to look back. and Oriol Paulí also joined the party with five consecutive points. The blaugrana could do no wrong, and that was before Brizuela started playing some of the finest hoops we have ever seen from him. James Nnaji was adding his huge physique to the mix and all in all, everything was far too hot for Girona to handle

The visitors did start to get their game together, but with Barça's shooting so accurate, there was little sign that the difference was only going to get wider.

A streak of 14 unanswered Barça points as good as put the game to bed. The likes of Ike Iroegbu and Mindaugas Susinkas have been posting some of the strongest stats in the ACB this year, but today they were powerless to halt the blaugrana charge.

Indeed, Barça could have eased off in the final period. But no. Jabari Parker rubbed salt into the Girona would by leading the final assault, and with over 5 minutes still to play, Barça had already surpassed the 100 barrier.

It was ovations all round after a simple fantastic performance.
