Barça 2-7 Inter: Defeat in the Palau
Barça fell to defeat in week 13 of the league against Movistar Inter at the Palau Blaugrana, going down 7-2 after holding the side from Madrid at two a piece at half time.
A tough defeat for Jesús Velasco's team but now they will have to turn the page and focus on the next challenge which comes in the Champions League Elite Round in Riga, Latvia next week.
Neck and neck
The first half was a tight affair with Inter taking the lead after just three minutes of the contest through Cecilio. Nevertheless, Pito struck back for the home side on 12 minutes, losing his man and then beating keeper Herrero with a subtle finish. Before half time Adolfo put the blaugranes ahead only for Terry to immediately level things up for the visitors to make it 2-2 at half time.
Inter swing the game
In the second half the game continued to be open with neither side dominating in the early minutes. Both teams had chances, Catela coming close for the blaugranes. However, just after the half hour mark Fits put Inter ahead and that swung the game in favour of the visitors.
When Drahovsky made it 4-2 with the blaugranes appealing for a foul that was not given, the game began to slip away from the home side. Herrero saved a Dyego penalty and with Barça sacrificing their keeper, Inter added three more goals in three minutes to register a 7-2 win in the Palau.
A difficult day at the office for Barça but a new challenge lies ahead next week in the Baltics.
