Shakhtar Donetsk 0–3 Barça: Through to the next round

The blaugranes defeat the Ukrainians and are through to the Youth League playoffs

The Barça U-19A side are through to the next phase of the UEFA Youth League after winning 0-3 to Shakhtar Donetsk. Óscar López' side dominated throughout for their fourth consecutive win despite some players being away on U-17 duty for Spain.

Control from the off

Barça pressed Shakhtar strongly from the first whistle, leading to the home side struggling to get close to Yaakobishvili's goal in the first 25 minutes.

Kravets thwarted Xavi Espart's first chance for the blaugranes, but eight minutes later, the home keeper's poor clearance led to Dani Rodríguez crossing from the left for captain Nil Calderó to make it 0-1.

Shakhtar took the game to Barça, going close via a free-kick and a dangerous cross into the box, but the scored remained 0-1 at the break.

Not let up from Barça

Shakhtar again took the game to the blaugranes after the restart, Yaakobishvili saving from Denys Smetana and Anton Demchenko. However, it wasn't long before Dani Rodríguez dribbled practically from his own area before executing a superb lob that made it 0-2 after 58 minutes.

Just four minutes later, Albert Navarro scored a splendid free kick for 0-3. By this point Hlushchenko had been sent off for a robust challenge on Guillermo Fernández, and the comeback challenge was too much for Shakhtar. Final score 0-3 and qualification for the UEFA Youth League round of 16 confirmed.
