Sunday anniversaries in Sallent (Barcelona) and Santa Cruz de la Zarza (Toledo)

Elena Fort and Josep-Ignasi Macià attend 40th anniversary of Penya Barcelonista de Sallent and Antonio Escudero is in Santa Cruz de la Zarza for 45th anniversary of Peña Barcelonista La Bota

After the emotions experienced on Saturday afternoon with El Clásico, Sunday 29 October was the day chosen by the Penya Barcelonista de Sallent and the Peña Barcelonista La Bota to celebrate their anniversaries.

Elena Fort, vice-president of FC Barcelona's Institutional Area, and Josep-Ignasi Macià, member of the Board of Directors responsible for the Social Area, participated on Sunday in the events celebrating the 40 years of history of Penya Barcelonista of Sallent. The events began with a visit to the club headquarters, where the Barça guests were welcomed by Cristina Fàbregas, president of the club. Antonio Olmo, former player and member of the FC Barcelona Players Association, also attended.

Once the tour of the clubhouse was over, the entourage moved to a restaurant where all the penya members were waiting to enjoy the gala lunch prepared to celebrate the 40th anniversary. In addition to the aforementioned, Oriol Ribalta, mayor of Sallent, and Antoni Valverde, delegate of the Advisory Council for Bages, Berguedà and Cerdanya, also attended.

During the lunch, a tribute was paid to all the presidents that the Bages club has had over the years, who were honoured by the more than 100 people in attendance, including members of 19 other clubs in the region.

Peña Barcelonista La Bota celebrates 45th anniversary

Another club also celebrated a very important anniversary this Sunday: the Peña Barcelonista La Bota. 45 years ago, eight footballing friends from Santa Cruz de la Zarza (Toledo) decided to form a club in this town and 45 years later the blaugrana passion is still burning in the town.

To celebrate, Antonio Escudero, vice-president of FC Barcelona's Social Area, travelled to Santa Cruz de la Zarza, accompanied by Ricardo Serna, former player and member of the FC Barcelona Players Association.

The institutional events began with a reception at the town hall, where the local delegation was received by the mayor, Jose Antonio Valencia, and where Antonio Escudero signed the book of honour.

Afterwards, the gala dinner was the highlight of the 45th anniversary celebrations. The president of PB La Bota, Ángel Valencia, acted as host at a lunch for more than 150 people, which was also attended by José Manuel Lozano, delegate of the Advisroy Council for Castilla-La Mancha. Among the diners were representatives of eleven of the other clubs in the area.
