Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood, VIP fans at the Clásico

The two members of the Rolling Stones, along with keyboard player Matt Clifford, were in the directors box at the Estadi Olímpic, adding the star pulling power of Barça v Real Madrid

Rolling Stones Mick Jagger and Ronnie Wood, along with the band's keyboard player, Matt Clifford, were among the 50,000 fans who witnessed the Clásico on Saturday at the Estadi Olímpic. The world famous musical legends made the trip to Barcelona to see their trademark logo on the front of the Barça shirts thanks to the collaboration between FC Barcelona and Spotify for the famous fixture.

As the two band members had stated when the announcement of the agreement for the Club's jersey to bear the Stones' logo, Jagger and Wood are "big football fans," and they showed that before the game as they got ready for the contest alongside president Joan Laporta; Juli Guiu, vice president of Marketing at FC Barcelona; Marc Hazan, Vice President of Partnerships at Spotify; Jeremy Erlich, Global Head of Music at Spotify; and Alex Norström, Co-President, Chief Business Officer at Spotify.

Mick Jagger, Ronnie Wood and Matt Clifford were shown the whole range of products and merchandising bearing the band's logo that had been put on sale prior to the game. The trio received commemorative limited edition jerseys before making their way up to the director's box to see the pre-game mosaic.

The last time the Rolling Stones played in Barcelona was in 2017, at the Estadi Olímpic, but on Saturday the main attraction was the Clásico and its multimillion global audience.

A unique mosaic

The other memorable image of the day came in the stands just before the players came out onto the pitch when a large mosaic bearing the Barça colours, the Catalan flag was unveiled and over which was placed a smaller mosaic of the Rolling Stones' iconic tongue and lips logo. Another two banners with the messages "Força Barça" and "Let's make it legendary", as well as blaugrana smoke, were on display in the upper tier of the stand.

The mosaic and the visit from the members of the Rolling Stones brings almost to a close the programme of events which has been one of the most virally popular for Barça with just one more outing for the logo on 5 November in the Barça Women's fixture at the Estadi Johan Cruyff.
