Alexia makes history

FC Barcelona midfielder breaks the club record with her 182nd goal

Today's game with Atlético was by no means a classic in terms of drama, but it brought a moment of history when Alexia Putellas broke the all-time FC Barcelona goalscoring record.

In the 51st minute, she scored the only goal of the match, the 182nd of her glittering career in blaugrana.

Just one week earlier she had equalised Jenni Hermoso's record with another crucial goal against Real Sociedad.

Goal-getting midfielder

131 of those goals were scored in the league, while the others came in the Copa de la Reina (20) Champions League (19), Spanish Super Cup (4) and Copa Catalunya (8).

And the amazing thing is the double Ballon d'Or winner isn't even an out-and-out striker, being more of an attacking midfielder. And she just needs another 18 to break the 200 barrier, and the way she's scoring of late, that might be happening sooner rather than later.
