Atlético Madrid 0-1 Barça: Historic goal wins it
Barça won away to Atlético on a day that was all about Alexia Putellas, whose goal on 51 minutes was her 182nd for the team, making her the all-time top scorer in Barça women's football history.
No movement
This is one of the toughest away fixtures in the league and the three points were by no means certain. It meant that despite some very pretty football from the Catalans, breaking through the well-ordered home defence was a lot harder than they are used to.
The possession was there but the final passes were not and the big moments in the first half were few and far between. Barça were being neutralised.
History in the making
But six minutes into the second half came the game changer. Alexia got her goal.
But it didn't really change the pattern of play. Barça were still dominating the possession but the real chances were not materialising. Atlético had the draw as well, with Cata Coll doing brilliantly when face to face with Sheila in the 88th minute.
In the end, Alexia's goal was all that split the teams and after back to back wins against tough opponents in Atlético and Real Sociedad, the Barça women have every reason to feel pleased with themselves right now.
