The international agenda
The second international break is here and as usual that means a mass exodus of FC Barcelona players, although injuries mean that several will be staying at home. Poland will have to make do without Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha is unable to play for Brazil, there will be no Frenkie de Jong in the Dutch squad, nor Jules Kounde for France or Pedri for Spain. Even so, there are still plenty of games with a blaugrana interest, and here they are:
Spain
Ferran Torres, Alejandro Balde and Gavi have all been called up. Ansu Fati, currently on loan to Brighton, is also in the squad that following two huge wins in the last international break is now comfortably on course towards a berth at Euro 24.
Spain v Scotland: 12/10 - Seville at 8.45pm CEST
Norway v Spain: 15/10 - Oslo at 8.45pm CEST
Germany
The Germans are hosting Euro 24 and therefore do not need to play qualification games. This week they are heading to North America to play a couple of friendlies. Under new manager Julian Nagelsmann, Barça are represented by both Marc-André ter Stegen and İlkay Gündoğan.
United States v Germany: 14/10 - East Hartford at 3pm local (9pm CEST)
Mexico v Germany: 18/10 - Philadelphia at 8pm (2am the following morning CEST)
Portugal
Portugal are cruising through their schedule with six wins out of six and a 24-0 goal difference, so mathematical qualification could well be achieved by João Cancelo and João Félix this week.
Portugal v Slovakia: 13/10 - 7.45pm in Porto (8.45pm CEST)
Bosnia & Herzegovina v Portugal: 16/10 - Zenica at 8.45pm CEST
Denmark
Andreas Christensen and Denmark are in a very different situation. They're in a very tight group and have a big game against direct rivals Kazakhstan followed by a visit to minnows San Marino.
Denmark v Kazakhstan: 14/10 - Copenhagen at 8.45pm
San Marino v Denmark: 17/10 - Serravalle at 8.45pm
Uruguay
After missing the first two World Cup 26 qualifiers, Ronald Araujo is back with his team for two enticing games in the Conmebol zone.
Colombia v Uruguay: 12/10 - Barranquiila at 3.30pm (10.30pm CEST)
Uruguay v Brazil: 18/10 - Montevideo at 9pm (2am the following day CEST)
Bolivia
Jaume Cuéllar of Barça Atlètic has once again been named in the Bolivian squad, which lost its first two games on the road to the 2026 World Cup and will be hoping to do a lot better this time.
Bolivia v Ecuador: 13/10 - La Paz at 7pm (1am the following day CEST)
Paraguay v Bolivia: 18/10 - Asuncion at 7.30pm (12.30am the following day CEST)
Spain U21
Santi Denia of Barça Atlètic has been named for the first time in the Spanish U21 squad, who are heading east this week, where they have a friendly and then a Euro 25 qualifying match.
Uzbekistan v Spain - 13/10 - 6.30pm in Tashkent (3.30pm CEST)
Kazakhstan v Spain - 17/10 - 6.30pm in Astana (3.30pm CEST)
