Real Sociedad B 1-0 Barça Atlètic: Harsh defeat

The reserves lose in San Sebastian in a game of few chances but where they clearly merited more than they got

Barça Atlètic have failed to collect points from their visit to the Real Sociedad reserves. It was by no means the most dramatic of matches, decided by a goal from a corner on the stroke of half-time, and the Catalans battled hard but in vain to get their way back into things.

Barça were certainly not short of chances to take an early lead, but none of Diego Percan, Mikayil Faye and Goujon could find the net with fine opportunities and instead with practically their first meaningful attack of the game, the Basques took the lead.

With the ball bounding about strangely in the Barça area following a corner, Jon Martín was the first man to get his foot on it and very much against the run of play, his side was leading at the interval.

Barça knew they didn't deserve to be in that position and spent the whole second half fighting for the recompense that never came. Of the many chances, the one that fell to Jaume Cuéllar was the most devastatingly close, but to today lady luck just didn't want to smile on Barça.

Hopefully the next two games, against two of the lowest ranked teams in the table, Teruel and Sestao River, will give Barça Atlètic the chance the make up some of the lost ground.
