Lamine Yamal, youngest starter ever in the Champions League

Lamine Yamal has made yet more history after being named in the starting XI for the Champions League game with Porto at the Estadio Do Dragão. At 16 years and 83 days, he has become the youngest player ever to be named in the starting line-up in the competition, just three days younger than Celestine Babayaro was in 1994 when he started a game for Anderlecht.

It was now or never, for by the time of Barça's next game, he'd no longer be in contention. Yamal had already become Barça's youngest ever player in the competition when he came on as a substitute against Royal Antwerp in the previous fixture. 

The player he surpassed was none other than Ansu Fati, now on loan to Brighton, who was 16 years and 321 days old when he made his own debut against Borussia Dortmund. In fact, Yamal became the second youngest player ever to feature in the Champions League for any club, the outright record still belonging to Youssoufa Moukoko.
