Barça 41-24 Torrelavega: Win to round off a good week

An excellent second half performance from Carlos Ortega's team sees the blaugranes through to victory at the Palau Blaugrana

Another win for FC Barcelona as they overcame BM Torrelavega 41-24 at the Palau Blaugrana to round off an excellent week after the win over Magdeburg in Europe just days before. An excellent second half performance formed the basis of the victory for Carlos Ortega's team with Richardson scoring seven goals and Blaz Janc six.

Visitors put up a fight 

Barça were put to the test defensively early in the game but Gonzalo Pérez de Vargas pulled three great saves to keep the blaugranes ahead at 7-2.

Nevertheless, Torrelavega came back at the blaugranes after 16 minutes the deficit was cut to 9-8. The quality of Richardson and young Petar Cikusa came to the fore and a series of counter attacks allowed Barça to take a 22-15 lead at half time. 

In the second half was when the blaugranes really pressed home their advantage. Hampus Wanne added his quality after the restart and the pace was lifted as Barça surged ahead. Defensively, Carlos Ortega's side were dominant in the second period, conceding just five goals in the opening 20 minutes to set up a comfortable win in the league. The blaugranes are back in action on Thursday with game against Porto in the Champions League.
