FC Barcelona 80–90 Real Madrid: Super Cup exit

Roger Grimau's team lose out in the Clásico semi-final despite 27 points from Laprovittola

The new look Barça team under coach Roger Grimau suffered their first defeat this Saturday as they went down to a 90-80 loss against Real Madrid in the ACB Super Cup semi-final despite an impressive first half performance and 27 points from Laprovittola.

The next game for Barça will be their debut in this season's league against local rivals Joventut Badalona in the Palau Blaugrana.

Laprovittola on fire

An even opening to the game saw Nico Laprovittola the star man for the blaugranes. The Argentinian scored 16 of Barça's first 20 points in the game and his contribution helped them to a 25-22 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter the pace of the game went up a notch. Barça saw Real Madrid score nine unanswered points to lead 34-32 and the half ended with their opponents two points ahead at 42-40.

Catch up

The third quarter was neck and neck and the game stood at 58-58 on 27 minutes. However, Campazzo and Tavares pulled Madrid back ahead and they led Barça by 67-58 with just the final quarter remaining.

Real Madrid gave Barça no room for a comeback in the fourth period and Grimau's team were also without Brizuela who picked up an injury earlier in the contest. Laprovittola's impressive of 27 points was not enough to avoid an 90-80 defeat in the Clásico with Real Madrid taking their place in Sunday's final.
