The FC Barcelona nominees for The Best awards

The list of nominees for the 2023 The Best awards is out. No fewer than 10 blaugranes are included across the following categories - 'Best women's player', 'Best men's player', 'Best women's goalkeeper', 'Best men's goalkeeper', 'Best women's coach' and 'Best men's coach'.

The Barça women's football team is well represented for 'The Best' award for 'Best women's player', with four players included, namely Aitana Bonmatí, Mapi León, Salma Paralluelo and Keira Walsh. The list for 'Best men's player' includes İlkay Gündoğan, who is also nominated for this prestigious award.

When it comes to goalkeepers, there are three names - Cata Coll and Sandra Paños for the 'The Best' award for 'Best women's goalkeeper' and Marc-André Ter Stegen for 'Best men's goalkeeper'.

Lastly, when it comes to coaches, both Barça first team coaches have been nominated for the respective awards - Jonatan Giráldez as women's coach and Xavi Hernández as men's coach.

The voting period begins once the list of 50 nominees in the six categories has been released.

The FIFA The Best awards are an annual recognition of the most stand out players and coaches in football. They both represent the sport's major honour and a celebration of the role of football fans who are actively involved in the process.
