Barça Atlètic 2-1 Real Unión: Home debut win

First game of the season at the Estadi Johan Cruyff and victory for Rafa Márquez's Barça Atlètic as they defeated Real Unión de Irún 2-1 on Sunday evening in Barcelona. Goals from Pau Víctor and Unai Hernández in the opening half were enough for the win despite Oyarzun pulling one back for the visitors after the break. 

Real Unión had the better of possession early in the game but it was the home side who struck first. Diego Percan's pace got him clear of his marker and his pull back was finished by Pau Víctor to hand Barça Atlètic the lead after just 11 minutes. 

The goal boosted Barça Atlètic's confidence and they gradually started to have more of the ball. Towards the end of the first half an excellent first touch from Unai Hernández allowed him to place the ball perfectly past Unión keeper Irazusta to make it 2-0. The Basque visitors had a chance to pull one back before the break but Escobar couldn't find the target from the edge of the box. 

Defensive solidity to confirm win 

The second half was a chance for the blaugranes to show off their defensive abilities. Real Unión got themselves back into the contest with a goal by Alain Oyarzun straight from a corner on 57 minutes. After that, the visitors pressed for an equaliser but the Barça Atlètic defence stood firm. 

Escobar came closest for Real Unión, brining a good save from keeper Astralaga. For Barça Atlétic, Moha had a chance but dallied too long and the defence was able to clear the danger. 

In the end, the home side saw out the final minutes to claim all three points on their home debut in the league. Barça Atlètic are next in action on Sunday 10 September away at Nàstic de Tarragona in a Catalan derby.
