Barça 47-29 Granollers: Catalan Super Cup secured!

Barça win their 14th consecutive and 23rd Catalan Super Cup, overcoming a battling performance by Granollers

Another trophy win can be added to the long list of honours for the Barça handball them. The blaugranas outscored Granollers 47-29 to lift the Catalan Super Cup at the Pabellón de Can Cases in Martorell.

As Granollers have a return leg European qualifier against Romanian side, CSM Constanta on the horizon, a second string and particularly young line up were brave in their approach, proving a tough test until energy levels started to wane.

Barça prove dominant

Timothy N'Guessan quickly scored three of four goals to redress an opener for Granollers. The blaugranas were in front and remained there until the game ended. They were setting the pace, but Granollers still kept Emil Nielsen busy with some saves when they pushed.

The game was free flowing and the crowd at Martorell could see different tactics and technical skills on show from both sides, despite the physical mismatch. Half time lead: eight points.

14th consecutive and 23rd Catalan Super Cup

Barça clearly have more depth and better fitness, and one period of the game saw quick responses to every Granollers goal, scoring on the next play. Ultimately a good game to play in preparation for the new season and another trophy to add to the blaugrana list of honours.

This Catalan Super Cup is now the 23rd, including those won under the name of Liga Pirineus up to 2012. Barça have won every edition since the tournament was renamed the Catalan Super Cup.
