SD Logroñés 1-0 Barça Atlètic: Debut defeat

Despite having the better of the game, the blaugranes fail to take their chances and lose out to an early strike from the home side

On their league debut for the 2023/24 season, Barça Atlètic fell to a 1-0 defeat at Las Gaunas against SD Logroñés. The home side went ahead early in the game thanks to a strike from Jordi Escobar which was enough to give them all three points. Rafa Márquez's team acquitted themselves well despite the reverse and now are looking to their next fixture.

Logroñés ahead

Barça Atlètic got off to the worst possible start in Las Gaunas when former blaugrana Jordi Escobar put Logroñés ahead after just 10 minutes of the game. The midfielder finished well inside the box to shoot past Marc Vidal in the Barça goal and make it 1-0.

The visitors tried to shake off the early setback and Rafa Márquez's team began to control the game with Diego Percan's lob almost bringing an equaliser on 21 minutes.

More chances came and went before half time with Garrido, Pocho and Pau Víctor all coming close.

Barça give everything

In the second half Lorgroñes managed to break up the blaugranes' rhythm with constant interruptions. Barça continued to search for the goal to level things up, Pau Víctor having the best chance midway through the half after an excellent pass from Garrido.

Barça continued searching for the equaliser until the very end but despite dominating possession and enjoying opportunities to take at least a draw, the early goal from Escobar was enough to hand Logroñés all three points.
