Jordi Cruyff lends Johan Cruyff's 1975 shirt to FC Barcelona Museum
Jordi Cruyff has presented the FC Barcelona museum with the original white jersey worn by his father, Club legend Johan Cruyff, in the 1974/75 season and which served as the inspiration for this season's second strip. The handover at the Barça Immersive Tour was attended by president Joan Laporta, vice-president Elena Fort, vice-president for the Sports Area Rafael Yuste, Enric Masip from the president's office and museum director Jordi Penas, as well as Jordi Cruyff himself.
The shirt, which is being loaned to the club for one year, is an icon of the dawn of the famous Barça style, and in August will be on display in the Barça MegaStore at Spotify Camp Nou before being included in the Barça Immersive Tour from September.
Inspirational
It is unusual for Barça to don a white strip, but this season is by no means the first time that it's happened. Back in the old days, it was especially common for teams to change to white in the case of colour clashes, and there are photos of such legends as Alcántara, Samitier, César and Kubala all wearing white Barça tops in different decades of the last century.
Cruyff also appeared in white, the most memorable occasion being the league game at Athletic Club on 19 January 1975, a design with a blaugrana trim and the emblematic crest used that year. Almost half a century later, that same shirt has been recreated with a modern look and was worn for the first time in the friendly against Arsenal in Los Angeles.
