Elena Fort: 'We have to stick together for Barça through a very important period'

Over two hundred FC Barcelona members convened today for the first Espai Barça briefing since the work began on the Spotify Camp Nou. Vice-president for the Institutional Area, Elena Fort, and vice-president for the Economic area, Eduard Romeu, were there to explain all the details about the Espai Barça project in an event that reflects the Board of Directors' commitment to transparency regarding the undertaking.

Fort outlined the changes that will take place at the Spotify Camp Nou over the coming months and the process to select the companies that will undertake the work. The vice-president also confirmed that the Barcelona local council have already granted two of the three municipal permits required to conduct the work. The final permit is expected to be granted shortly.

Eduard Romeu went into detail about the funding plan for Espai Barça, acknowledging that it "is an aggressive, ambitious plan that requires painful decisions that only brave people can make". The vice-president also asked for the members' trust and patience. Furthermore, he made a point of underlining that the Club's ownership model was one of the key aspects when moving forward with the Espai Barça funding, and that it didn't involve mortgaging the Stadium. "We guaranteed payment with the income generated by the project. This means the financiers are with us for the ride, but of course, they cannot influence the Club's decisions".

Regarding the move to the stadium on Montjuïc, Elena Fort highlighted the Club's efforts to improve access and to ensure moving around inside is as convenient and smooth as possible. The vice-president provided information about ways to get to the stadium, which include shuttle buses from Plaza España and Carrer Foc (every 4 minutes to and from the stadium), the funicular railway, the escalators, taxis, the parking areas for Supporters' Club coaches and motorbikes around the stadium itself, and for cars at the Fira de Barcelona.

Fort encouraged members to "stick together for Barça during a very important period", disclosing that 16,864 members have purchased the Pase Barça Primer Equipo 2023/24 season ticket for the Montjuïc stadium. The vice-president also announced that plans are being put into place so that members without a season ticket can take advantage of tickets for affordable prices.

The briefing also included the announcement that the Spotify Camp Nou works can be followed on the Espai Barça website via the three webcams viewing the site. Viewing the footage requires registering with the Club's website as a Culer, which is free of charge.
