Board recognises new penya in Senegal

The FC Barcelona Board of Directors has officially endorsed the Penya Blaugrana Dakar. It is thus the sole official FC Barcelona supporters club in the West African country.

The club already has over 100 members and expects exponential growth now that it has been granted official status. It's main activities will consist of gathering to watch both the men's and women's teams in action. The Dakar club is the 165th Barça penya in the international zone.

29 official penyes in Africa

The Penya Blaugrana Dakar is the 19th official penya in Africa. Morocco leads the way with 13 clubs, while there are two in Tunisia, and one each in Algeria, Burkina Faso, Congo, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mozambique, Benin, Rwanda and now Senegal.

The oldest of these is the one in Tangier., Morocco, which was granted official status in 2005.
