'Final' training session in the Philips Stadion
The moment of truth is near. The tension is palpable as on Friday, following the press conferences involving Alexia, Caroline Graham Hansen and coach Jonatan Giráldez, the women's first team trained for the first time at the Philips Stadion, venue for Saturday's final. The blaugranes were the first to train on the pitch for Women's Champions League final, ahead of opponents Wolfsburg, with all 27 players who have made the trip taking part.
The Philips Stadion, located in the centre of Eindhoven, was opened in 1910, and underwent its most recent remodelling in 2002. Barça legends such as Ronald Koeman and Brazilians Romario and Ronaldo have all graced the stage during their spells with local club PSV.
The ground was one of the stadiums used in the European Championships in 2000 as well as the venue for the 2006 UEFA Cup final which saw Spanish club Sevilla beat English side Middlesbrough. With a capacity of 35,000, the stadium has been used for concerts and other events and Saturday it will host 8,000 Barça fans all wishing to add its name to the list of famous grounds where Barça have won silverware.
